Based in Karachi, Shahzad Nizam & Co. represents businesses, institutions and individuals in litigation, arbitration and advisory matters across Pakistan, with support in Lahore, Islamabad and Quetta through Of Counsel arrangements.
Shahzad Nizam is a seasoned disputes and advisory lawyer with more than a decade of experience representing businesses, public-sector bodies and private clients in complex legal matters across Pakistan. He is an Advocate of the High Courts with rights of audience before the High Courts, subordinate courts, regulatory authorities and special tribunals.
Shahzad commenced legal practice in 2013 with Mohsin Tayebaly & Co., where he worked closely with Mr Arshad Tayebaly until 2019. During this formative period, he built a strong foundation in commercial litigation, corporate advisory work and courtroom advocacy, including significant matters before the High Courts and the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In 2019, Shahzad joined MCA Law Associates, where he worked with Barrister Salahuddin Ahmed in a partner-level role and handled contentious and non-contentious mandates of considerable commercial and public importance.
Before establishing the firm, these roles gave him substantial experience within established legal practices and equipped him to manage intricate, commercially sensitive and strategically demanding matters from inception through litigation, arbitration or negotiated resolution.
Shahzad advises and represents clients in civil, criminal, corporate and commercial disputes; constitutional and administrative proceedings; public procurement and company regulation; banking, property, tenancy, labour and service matters; telecommunications, customs, taxation and foreign exchange; white-collar crime; and domestic arbitration.
His representative experience includes advising on the negotiation, implementation and resolution of a major housing-development joint venture involving the Pakistan Air Force; advising the Port Qasim Authority on procurement requirements and implementation arrangements for LNG and LPG projects; and providing continuing advice to the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange on institutional, commercial and regulatory matters.
He has also advised an international bus manufacturer in connection with public procurement for Karachi’s mass-transit system, represented successful bidders in disputes arising from a major Sindh Government education procurement, and acted in commercial arbitrations involving prominent energy and infrastructure companies.
His work frequently requires close engagement with government departments, regulators, corporate decision-makers and technical teams in matters carrying substantial financial, operational and reputational consequences.
As a disputes lawyer, Shahzad has appeared in complex civil, corporate and criminal proceedings, including bail matters and cases concerning financial and white-collar offences.
His experience extends across pleadings, constitutional petitions, applications, evidence, contracts, legal opinions and strategic advice, as well as advocacy before courts and specialist forums.
Shahzad combines rigorous legal analysis with practical judgment and determined advocacy. He is known for remaining composed under pressure, identifying the decisive issue within a complex dispute and pursuing solutions that are both legally sound and commercially effective.
His approach is grounded in integrity, preparation and the conviction that every client deserves direct, considered and effective representation. Approachable with clients, collaborative with colleagues and tenacious in court, Shahzad brings clarity, discipline and strategic focus to every engagement.
